I had some spare time last night and decided to start Chapter 3 and see if things would go faster with the Cintiq.
The page itself was pretty damaged, and much was altered in the digital stage when I first colored it in 2001. So instead of just recoloring the line art and performing minor edits, it ended up being quicker to just redraw the entire thing, using the old line art as a sketch.
I smoothed out the panel alignment for better flow, and removed pointless pattern fills in favor of clean solid colors that don't burn the eyeballs out. I also gave the dialogue a stiff and much-deserved tweaking.
Font colors will remain personalized for all characters, but I've decided to stick with black outlined word balloons for now, just 'cause it looks nice.
This is a big step toward my eventual plans for paper format publication, for anyone who's keeping track. It doesnt' take much time at all to fix up an old page, compared to drawing the current chapters from scratch.
Wow, that's like looking at the same page done by two completely different artists... Like the differences.

You're fabulous. I just want to share that. Your skill has improve volumes over the course of your comic, and I marvel at the grand artistic vision you have developed.
Congratulations a million times, and I will patiently wait for more of the lovely art you share.

Learn it well, friend, because you certainly can't unlearn it.
WOW. Huge difference. It definitely looks much better. I can't wait to see the finished product, I wanna get it.
One concern though is the art style. This redone page seems more chibi/anime-ish than the new page, which seem more professional and have a set style. And yet this page could still kinda fit with the new ones. Did you do this on purpose? Cause it almost looks like Cho is younger here.
I was making small adjustments to the original stuff, with the goal of keeping the art close without deliberately drawing at the old level. I sized Cho up a lot in CH3, because in the first version of that chapter she was like 3 feet tall, and then I decided against it later and made her pretty much eye to eye with Kano.
I am thinking that with chapter 4 and up, I might as well be a bit freer with my changes. No use chewing the same cabbage twice!

coolio. I still like looking back at the old pages and such to see how far you've progressed as an artist, it really is amazing.
*ahem*
I love the new dialogue. Cho sounds like Cho!! Yay! Also the remixed pages layouts flow much nicer
